Making the trip from Minnesota to south Florida can be a little wearing. Bringing my seafood-averse older son and my picky, picky five-year-old grandson meant working my Yelp app to find and bookmark places that are kid-friendly and have non-shellfish options. A lot of perusing menus and looking for chicken nuggets! I was excited to take them to Coconut Jack's and sit overlooking the water with the flying fish, seagulls, and occasional manatee. I knew the casual dining atmosphere would be good for an antsy kiddo and I was right.

Jack's was also my choice because my grandson's name is Jack and he got a huge kick out of seeing his name everywhere. I ordered the scallop basket (of course), Jack got the chicken nuggets, and my son got a mahi wrap. Just after we ordered, we looked over and realized my niece and her family were sitting across the deck, so we joined forces and had a delightful lunch together! We knew they were in town because we were going to Baleen that night, but this was hilariously unexpected.

The food. We ordered the peel & eat shrimp to share, but they're served hot and difficult to peel as you burn your fingers. The portion was plentiful and their house-made cocktail sauce is good, but drawn butter was not necessary in my opinion. Still, you can't go wrong with fresh shrimp.

They cook scallops so perfectly I could eat them all day. The blackening spices are yummy and in the basket the juices meld with the crispy, battered fries so you have to eat them with a fork. My son was not terribly impressed with the mahi wrap; the "Asian slaw" was just shredded cabbage and the fish was under seasoned. I had a glass of chardonnay, which was a mistake given how hot and humid it was. It was warm pretty quickly, so I switched to their frozen lemonade, a tart, refreshing slushee that really hit the spot. All the drinks came with tiny umbrellas, something the little kids had apparently never seen as they collected them all and brought them home. It was another fun trip to Coconut Jack's!

Great atmosphere, OK food, decent drinks.

Sitting under the tiki right on the water was by far the best part.  The drinks were different and pretty good, nice presentation.  The food was OK, bar joint kind of food. The buffalo chicken appetizer was good because the asagio cheese melted on top and soft pretzels for dipping put a good twist on it. The chicken sandwich was very plain and the fish tacos were average, nothing special, but not bad.

Mrs. K. and I came in to Coconut Jack's in the off season.  They have always looked so busy so we have kind of just passed it by.  They take no reservations when we called but told us they were not busy and seating was plentiful.  We valet parked the car(a must) and walked in and we were seated instantly.

We were given two menus.  One was the specials and the other was their regular menu.  My first glance at the special menu was instant shock.  The first thing I saw was crab legs for $99.00.  I was like dang I didn't think this place was that expensive.  I thought about ordering the crab legs then could not justify the price.

The regular menu had most items priced from about $20 to $34.  I opted for the lobster roll.  While on the somewhat smaller size it was filling.  Mrs. K. ordered the grouper and chips.

Service performed by Michael was immediate and professional.  He explained all our options took our drink order and let us look at the menu.  He had some recommendations that sounded good but we chose to go our own way.  Service at Coconut Jack's is fast and efficient. The speed and freshness of the meal was spectacular.

I will be back maybe not in season but I make it back.

Favorite place in Bonita Springs and one of the top restaurants in the area as far as I am concerned.

Their happy hour from 3 to 5 is second to none. Great prices, great service, and really good selection of appetizers.
